you're looking a better lens than 18-200 or you're looking for 18-200..??
i'm using nikon..the picture that you saw, it was 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 aka kit lens...
not sure what is your requirement..enlighten me, perhaps..
from my point of view, 18-200 will give you flexibity. obviously you can cover alots of things with that distance from a single spot.
but like many other multi tasking things in this world, this lens will give you an everage result most of the time. bokeh isn't likely to happen with this lens either.
it will be costly if yoy just try and error. i suggest that you lend it form some one before you decide anything.
have you done you're homework from internet/forums/articles etc..??
done homework for lens 18-200mm? just reading from one and two forums, so far. all said great..and maybe they imply on the flexibility as what you mentioned.
as for using DSLR, yup in the process of learning from books and internet. but not that serious yet. and the other way is mingle around with photographers, inexperience and experience..that's all so far to work out on my hobby (snapping pictures)..but again not yet into serious mode. heh.heh.
by the way, did you get the news that zakuan(tak ingat dah nama panggilan die masa EAT dulu), he's already return to RAHMATULLAH. Innalillah..May he with His Bless.
